  • We do not sell your information, and we do not add you to marketing lists.
  • You can ask us to show, correct or delete your information at any time.

Who we are

Galway Bay Roofing is a roofing and maintenance business based in Galway, Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for looking after it.

This policy applies to this website and to enquiries you send us by phone, email or through our forms. It is written to meet the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.

Information collected automatically. When you visit this website, your browser sends technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. Some of this is collected through cookies, as explained below.

Please do not send us sensitive information, such as health details, as we do not need it to carry out our work.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it with the companies that help us run our business, and only as far as they need it:

  • Website hosting provider: stores this website and the enquiries sent through it.
  • Google: provides our business email, and the Google Maps, Google Fonts, Analytics and Ads services used on this website.
  • Cloudflare: delivers some of the code that runs this website.
  • Accountants and professional advisers: where we need them for tax, legal or insurance matters.
  • Authorities: where the law requires us to.

We may also show customer reviews from Google on this website. Those reviews are public, and Google’s own privacy policy applies to them.

Transfers outside the EU

Some of the providers above, including Google and Cloudflare, may process information in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on the protections set out in data protection law, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We only keep your information for as long as we need it:

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a job: up to 12 months.
  • Customer, job and invoice records: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required for Irish tax purposes.

After that, we securely delete it. If a dispute or claim is ongoing, we may keep the relevant records until it is resolved.

Your rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Ask us to limit how we use your information, or object to it
  • Ask us to pass your information to you or another company
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. It is free, and we will reply within one month. Some rights have limits, for example we must keep certain tax records even if you ask us to delete them.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please talk to us first. You can also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
